About Us

The idea for East Street BBQ Company began when I was a young child. My father would take my brother and I on Sundays to get Chef Mitchell’s BBQ chicken and ribs. I became fascinated with the art of bbq. 

Years later after a lack of bbq options to choose from in Western Pennsylvania, my friend Doug and I drove hours out of our way to go to the Commissary in Memphis, TN and I once again regained my obsession with eating bbq. 

In 2010 I met my future wife, Nicole and for our first Christmas she bought me my first smoker. It was all downhill from there. How do you not fall in love with a woman that buys you a smoker? 

In 2016 a friend showed me an ad for something I never knew existed, bbq competitions. I thought nothing will force me to be better at cooking bbq than competing and having people getting paid to eat free food and tell you how bad your food is. For years I would practice every weekend asking my wife, Nicole, our oldest daughter Macey, and our cousin Justin to taste test it along with delivering some to my Mother and Father In Law on East Street so they could help and critique it, as I was always looking to improve. 

As our young daughter was growing up she would constantly say we should have our own business, and she would make the banana pudding. After many regrets of not pursuing other business ventures I decided to take the advice from a 6 year old and she was right.
